Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can children have dental work done at Randwick Day Surgery?
Yes. Our licence and accreditation covers dental procedures on children from 2-14 years of age. (see dentistry for children section)

2. What type of anaesthetic is available?
The option of intravenous sedation or general anaesthetic can be discussed with your dentist/surgeon and the anaesthetist.

3. Why do I need an escort?
Following intravenous sedation or general anaesthetic you are required to have an adult with you for 24 hours in the event that you feel unwell.

An escort is required to receive the discharge instructions from the nurse and to drive you home. Because you are having intravenous sedation or general anaesthetic you cannot drive a car for 24 hours following the procedure. If you do drive and have an accident you will not be covered by insurance.

We are unable to proceed with the operation if you have not arranged an escort to accompany you home and stay with you overnight.

4. Is Parking available?
On-site parking is not available. There is limited street parking on Eurimbla Avenue and High Street. Parking is also available in Coles Car Park (entrance Clara Street) or the Prince of Wales Hospital car park.

5. When can I eat following the procedure?
Following restorative dental work, you usually commence eating normally once you return home. Following extractions, a soft diet is recommended. Post-operative instructions are given to you before you are discharged home.
